MONTEGO BAY,
St. James - The Western Basketball Association will
donate 100% of admission proceeds for Sunday's HOOPS for
HAITI basketball fund-raiser matches between 3pm and 8pm
to help Haiti.
All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. The Red
Cross is a a humanitarian organization led by
volunteers, will provide relief to victims of disasters
and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to
emergencies all over the globe. With the recent
earthquake that has devastated Haiti, their focus has
changed to raising money and helping those in need in
Haiti.
All in support are asked to enter by donating $150.00 at
the gate. In addition, donations to help Haiti are
encouraged and stations will be set up for you to donate
to the cause.
"This is a time for the world to come together. We
decided to do our part in contributing to those in need
in Haiti. Every little bit helps" said WBA President
Donalda Reid.
If you cannot make it to the game, there are other ways
you can contribute to the cause. Numerous organizations
have joined forces and are doing all they can to support
Haiti. You can text the word "HAITI" to the number
444-4357 from a LIME phone, while Digicel users can text
"HELP" to 162.
With the world pulling together to help the people of
Haiti, the Western basketball Association is asking all
players, fans, well-wishers to come out to our HOOPS FOR
HAITI basketball fundraiser. Let's do what we can to
support Haiti in their time of crisis.
