Louisville stuns No. 2 Syracuse
Louisville,
KY (02-07-2010):
At
6-5 in the Big East Conference, University of Louisville
was on the outside of the NCAA tournament looking in,
and with a crucial match-up against No.2 Syracuse
University on the slate, the Cardinals knew this was a
must-win situation.
After a slow and uninspiring start, they found
themselves trailing by 11 points before coming alive.
Forward Samardo Samuels scored all eight of his
points during a late second half surge as Louisville won
66-60 for its fifth straight win over Syracuse and the
first against a ranked opponent this season.
The Cardinals (16-9, 7-5 Big East) won despite missing 5
of 7 free throws in the final 1:41. The victory now has
the Cardinals back in contention but they will need a
few more big victories to secure a spot in the filed of
64.
