Samardo Samuels drove around Kenneth Faried in the second half. (By Michael Clevenger, The Courier-Journal) March 20, 2009Louisville, KY (03-07-2010): University of Louisville made its final appearance at Freedom Hall a memorable one when the Cardinals came from behind to topple No. 1 Syracuse University 78-68 on Saturday night in front of an appreciative home crowd and a national television audience. With the victory, Louisville (20-11, 11-7 Big East) may have punched its ticket to the NCAA tournament, but will know for sure when the field of 64 is announced next weekend. The Cardinals had earlier defeated Syracuse in New York thus sweeping the season series.

Sophomore center Samardo Samuels came alive in the second half to finish with 12 points and nine rebounds, including two devastating dunks. Louisville will play the winner of the University of Cincinnati/Rutgers University game in the Big East tournament at 9:00 p.m. EST Wednesday night.
