Louisville edges UConn 78-76
Storrs,
CT. (02-28-2010):
Samardo Samuels
blocked the potential game-winning basket with .01
seconds left to help University of Louisville preserve a
78-76 victory over Big East foe University of
Connecticut on Sunday evening.
After Louisville scored on a driving layup with .08
seconds to break the tie, UConn elected not to use its
final timeout and raced to the other end of the court
only to have the shot rejected by Samuels.
The sophomore center led four Louisville players in
double figures with 14 points as the Cardinals improved
to 10-6 in the conference and 19-10 overall. The
conference road win allowed Louisville to sweep their
rivals in the season series but most importantly, added
another quality victory to its NCAA Tournament resume.
Tonight Louisville travels to Milwaukee to face another
Big East opponent, Marquette University, at 9:30 p.m. on
ESPNU.
