Louisville rebounds, rolls past free-falling UConn

Samardo Samuels drove around Kenneth Faried in the second half. (By Michael Clevenger, The Courier-Journal) March 20, 2009Louisville, KY (02-01-2010): The University of Louisville figured out that the best way to avoid another league apology was to keep it from being a close game.

Samardo Samuels chipped in 13 points as the Cardinals (14-8, 5-4 Big East) bounced back from a potentially devastating loss at West Virginia on Saturday with arguably their biggest win of the season.

Louisville never trailed and built a 19-point lead early in the second half before holding off a couple of mild runs by the Huskies.

It was a game the Cards sorely needed after the Big East admitted to "procedural and communication errors" in their losses to the West Virginia and Seton Hall this season.

"We've just been getting jerked," said UofL forward Samuels, who had 13 points before fouling out. "Most of the teams that have beat us are not better than us. We have a great team; we've just been getting, like, bad calls — it's always something. Today our guys were like, 'We're not going to make it come down to a final whistle."
