10th NIKE Star Search Camp Set For July 11-16

MIAMI, FL - The 10th annual NIKE/Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Star Search Basketball & Life Skills Development Camp is set for July 11-16, 2010, at the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education & Sports in St. Catherine, Jamaica.

Registration begins on Sunday, July
11, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. Since its inception, over 100 male and female student/athletes have secured full basketball scholarships to United States high schools, colleges, and universities, among them, Jerome Jordan (University of Tulsa) and Samardo Samuels (University of Louisville), both of whom are in the upcoming National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.

The camp is a joint effort between the Jamaica Basketball Development (JBD) Inc, and the Jamaica Amateur Basketball Association (JABA), while longtime supporter G.C. Foster will once again provide accommodations for the student/athletes during the entire week.

"It is hard to believe that it has been ten years. We continue to be excited with our partnership with JABA, to be able to co-host this camp for another year and to provide a positive influence to all camp participants," said Gary Henry, President of JBD, Inc.
"Young adults, now more than ever, need positive support and mentorship to guide character development in helping them work towards their future aspirations."

The Jamaica Basketball Development (JBD), Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that is committed to the development of student/athletes in Jamaica. It is comprised of former Jamaican national basketball team members now living in the United States. Its mission is to enrich the lives of Jamaican student/athletes, by providing life skills development and opportunities to further their educational development through the game of basketball.
