Camp Set For July 11-16 MIAMI, FL- The 10th annual NIKE/Kentucky
Fried Chicken (KFC) Star Search Basketball & Life Skills
Development Camp is set for July 11-16, 2010, at the G.C.
Foster College of Physical Education & Sports in St.
Catherine, Jamaica.
Registration begins on Sunday, July
11, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. Since its inception, over 100 male
and female student/athletes have secured full basketball
scholarships to United
States high schools, colleges,
and universities, among them, Jerome Jordan (University
of Tulsa) and Samardo Samuels (University of
Louisville), both of whom are in the upcoming National
Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.
The camp is a joint effort between the Jamaica
Basketball Development (JBD) Inc, and the Jamaica
Amateur Basketball Association (JABA), while longtime
supporter G.C. Foster will once again provide
accommodations for the student/athletes during the
entire week.
"It is hard to believe that it has been ten years. We
continue to be excited with our partnership with JABA,
to be able to co-host this camp for another year and to provide a positive influence to all camp participants,"
said Gary Henry, President of JBD, Inc.
"Young adults,
now more than ever, need positive support and mentorship
to guide character development in helping them work
towards their future aspirations."
The
Jamaica Basketball Development (JBD), Inc. is a
not-for-profit organization that is committed to the
development of student/athletes in Jamaica. It is
comprised of former Jamaican national basketball team
members now living in the United States. Its mission is
to enrich the lives of Jamaican student/athletes, by
providing life skills development and opportunities to
further their educational development through the game
