Hoopers look to wrap up finals
MONTEGO BAY, St James - Fresh from Saturday night's
66-52 win, Hoopers will be aiming to wrap up the
best-of-three finals in the western phase of the 2009
Flow-sponsored National Basketball League (NBL) today
when they take on Catherine Hall All Stars at the
Montego Bay Cricket Club Courts, starting at 6 p.m.
"The first game was quite a close and exciting affair
so we are definitely expecting another good game,"
said Deon Williams, the competition's
coordinator. "Hoopers will want to end it now, but I
am sure All Stars will be going all out to create a Game
Three."

Levar Rose emerged the top scorer for Hoopers
with 14 points, but the real star of their success was
Toussaint Williams, who had 11 points and 14
rebounds. Neil Samuels, Marlon Comrie and André Morgan
also turned in pleasing performances.
Despite his team's loss, the versatile Goyan Malcolm
turned in an excellent performance for the Catherine
Hall team, finishing with a game 27 points.
In the preliminary phase of the competition, Hoopers
defeated Catherine Hall 72-68 in their first-round
fixture. However, in the return game, Catherine Hall
pulled out an exciting 73-69 win. Based on those results
and the excitement generated in Game One, many are
expecting a nail-biting game tonight.
Should Catherine Hall win tonight and push the series to
a Game Three, that game will be played outside of
western Jamaica. According to Williams, arrangements are
in place to play the game at the National Indoor Centre,
in Kingston, on Saturday night, starting at 6 p.m.
