Jaguars devour Hawks in Flow basketball
MONTEGO BAY, St
James - Despite an improved performance, Sav Hawks went
down to their fifth straight loss in the return-round of
the Flow NBL West on Sunday, beaten 63-77 by Granville
Jaguars at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
The Westmoreland team, led by the ageless Dellon
Hodges with 24 points and 13 rebounds, led for the
fist two quarters, but failed to hold on, especially
late in the proceedings when Granville took over the
game.

This was the second win for Granville over Hawks this
season following a 70-47 lopsided result in the first
round.
Hoopers, who have won all five of their games so far,
lead the standings with 10 points, followed by Granville
on nine, with Inner-city Avalanche and Catherine Hall
All-Stars on six points and Hawks on five at the back of
the pack.
To their credit, Granville avoided the implosion that
cost them the game against Hoopers two weeks ago and
were able to capitalise on several mistakes by the Hawks
at the end of the quarter as well as the fourth quarter.
A 7-0 run by Granville late in the second quarter closed
the gap to just five points (31-36) after Sav had gotten
off to a fast start, leading 10-3 with five minutes 45
seconds to go in the first quarter.
Granville kept the scores close in the third quarter and
drew level at 48-48 and then took the lead for good
after Hawks gave up back to back technical fouls and
made three of the four free throws.
A three-pointer from Huwayne Blake punctuated a
17-2 run by Granville as they took the game away from
Hawks who were without key player Maurice Rodriques
who fouled out early in the fourth quarter.
Leroy Lawrence scored a game-high 33 points and
had 15 rebounds to lead Granville; Dave Black
scored 16 points and had eight rebounds and eight
assists; Blake scored 14 points and had 18 rebounds
along with seven assists while Greg Bernard
scored nine points.
