Tivoli's wizardry secures 2009 NBL title KINGSTON, Jamaica - Tivoli Wizards were crowned
National Basketball League Champions Saturday night
after their running game and power play took them to a
85-72
win over Majesty Legends and a 2-nil series win in the
best of three finals at the National Indoor Center.
The Wizards, winners of Thursday's first game 83-57,
were always in control and led 48-43 at half time.
Final MVP Kirk Ferguson with 25 points 12
rebounds and Andrew Whilby 15 points 19 rebounds
and six steals inspired the Edward "Ted" Marshall
coached Wizards to victory.

"It's very important because it's my first time coaching
at this level, and to win it means a lot to me," Coach
Marshall said.
Baldon Todd who had 18 points and 12 rebounds
before being fouled out and back-to-back season MVP
Kemar McLeish 16 points again led the efforts for
the Marland Nattie coached Legends.
"These guys are young, but it didn't come down to a
matter of seniority versus youngsters. It was just a
matter of them trying to do too much on their own. We
had too much individuality instead of teamwork," Coach
Nattie said.
Urban Knights behind Oneil Mundle and
Christopher Brown 14 points each turned back
Manchester Pythons 77-57 in the third place playoff in
the night's curtain raiser.
Shad Walters had a game high 18 points for the
losers.
