  Tornadoes shakes the Spartans

Trelawny Tornadoes was far too strong for Western Basketball Association's Men's Basketball League newcomers Marchtown Spartans on Saturday night, shaking them by 23 points at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Multipurpose Court.

The Spartans were down by 13 points at half-time and never looked like seriously threatening the Tornadoes. The team did offer more in the second half but was simply outplayed by a determined Trelawny side.

Fitzroy Gordon picked up 22 points, nine boards and five steals for the Tornadoes, while Diego Hines followed with 18 points and four rebounds, while Melvin Hanshaw was handy with 9 points, 7 boards and two blocks.

Marchtown’s Kadian Ferguson claimed 13 points and five boards, while Garfield Johnson managed 8 points.

The win was Trelawny’s first of the season. In stark contrast, the Spartans recorded its 2nd straight loss of the season.
