After an Executive Meeting on the weekend, the Western Basketball Association announce that they will be extending the deadline for new entrants and returning teams for the Men's Basketball Development League (MBDL) to no later than this Friday, August 14, 2009.

Established in 2006, the MBL will be going for its 4th incarnation this season with some seven teams expected to suit up; a number reduced from twelve due to the departure of several participating teams to the Lucozade Sport Men's Basketball Championship earlier this year.

The competing teams should include: Bay City Lions, City Knights, Marchtown Spartans, Negril Rangers, Sav-La-Mar J-Hawks, Trelawny Tornadoes.
