Lucozade Sport MBC Semi: 4 The Hard Way

MONTEGO BAY, St James - The top four regular season finishers in the 2010 Lucozade Sport Men's Basketball Championship are in action this weekend at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Multipurpose Court, as teams contest a grueling semi-final series.

Game one of the Hanover derby is set for 5:30pm: when the reigning Mid-Season and regular season Champions, Lucea Flames will duel the fourth-placed Hopewell Vipers. Flames have beaten Vipers each time they have gone head to head in the regular season and the League's scoring leader is Craig Dorman who is also ranked #2 in the steals category. Not to be outdone, Vipers has the services of the league third highest scorer with Dwight Reid. The rivalry between these two teams is very competitive and intense; the excitement should be very high.

In the second match at 7:30, Montego Bay Cricket Club Knights who ended the regular season in second spot will be trying to withstand the assault of the very experienced third placed finisher Sav-La-Mar Hawks. After facing each other twice, both teams share an equal one win-one loss record. Despite their age and experience in comparison to the veterans (Hawks), Knights have much to be proud of; even though Flames are #1, Knights have scored the highest points this year amassing a whopping 911 points (Flames - 778). Knights also have the second highest scorer in Omroy Kerr plus this team has the greatest number of assists @ 244 and rebounds @ 507.

The second game of this best of three will be the following Saturday, July 31st with a third game of each series if necessary, will be on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010 at the same venue.
