Sav Hawks seek perfection

MONTEGO BAY, St James - Sav Hawks will seek to extend their unbeaten start to the Western Basketball Association's Division One league on Saturday when they take on struggling Granville Wolfpack in the second game of a double header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.

Hawks who were demoted from the National Basketball League-West last season won their first three games and is coming off a 71-65 win over MoBay Cricket Club Knights on Sunday.

Granville meanwhile has won only one of their four games and could find the speed and size of the Hawks team too much.

On Sunday, Wolfpack were out gunned by Hopewell Vipers 67-54 and would have lost by a wider margin but for the contribution off the bench from Andre Uter and Warner Dowman who combined for 35 of their 54 points.

The Hawks attack should be led by Kenneth Blackwood, Richard Chambers and Maurice Rodriques.

In the first game on Saturday, Hopewell Vipers will take over the sole leadership of the competition after their game against Jr Avalanche.

Vipers and Central Flames are tied for the lead on seven points each from four games with three wins.

On Sunday, Trelawny Tornadoes will seek their first win of the season when they take on Knights at the Cricket Club starting at 6:00pm.

Tornadoes are at the bottom of the tables with three points from their three losses while Knights are just ahead of them on four points with one win to their credit.
