Wolfpack sinks teeth into Vipers
In this week’s Lucozade Sport Men's Basketball
Championship game of the round which took place last
week Sunday at the Montego Bay Cricket Club Multi-Purpose
court, the 5-3 Granville Wolfpack got by a battered and
bruised Hopewell Vipers 60-49.
Coming off a win in round seven against the lowly Jnr.
Avalanche, Granville were hoping go to join league leaders
and Mid-season Champions - Central Flames first on the
ladder with a win in this one - and they certainly achieved
that.
In the first term, neither side could find their scoring
touch. Hopewell dominated on the rebounds but trailed 14-8
at the first break.
The Wolves lead grew in the second term as they extended the
score 33-25, opening up a 6-point lead at halftime.
In the third term, Vipers shot slightly better, actually
outscoring their opponents 11-9 but could not make inroads
on the deficit.
In the final term and on their way to an impressive victory
- Granville pulled down 17 rebounds to nine and made 18
baskets while Hopewell scored 13.
For the Wolfpack, Dwayne Keene top scored with 16
points grabbing 8 rebounds, while Eric Morrison and
Andre Uter added 10 points each and combined for ten
rebounds.
For the Vipers, Dwight Reid was dominant with 20
points, 7 rebounds and five steals. Demar McGregor
supported with 10 points and seven rebounds.
