Tigers
devour Wolfpack by 20
Last Sunday, saw two Round Six matches in the Lucozade
Sport Men's Basketball Championship continue; the
thrills and excitement that this competition is knowing for
was not lacking either.
In the first game, the Granville Wolfpack took their high
powered offense to the Railway Tigers with hopes of avenging
their first round loss to these very opponents. Wolfpack
have been idle for some three weeks due to Boys Club
Warriors suspension and the resumption of the All-Island
Parish League which is running simultaneously. Tigers on the
other hand, still smarting from their Round Five loss to
Vipers, they wanted to get off to a better start.
The first quarter was very close and Tigers took a slim
13-12 lead. In the second term, the both teams continued
their great shooting accuracy but Tigers still held to a
23-20 lead at halftime.
The game changed in third quarter, Granville became
vulnerable couldn't make inroads on the deficit, in fact,
Railway were very aggressive offensively and superb on
defense. Dominating in the paint they outscore their
opponents 18-4 and extending their lead to 41-24 going to
the final quarter.
Wolfpack wasn't about to roller over and play dead in doing
so they picked up their scoring in the last quarter, but
couldn’t make up any of the deficit. Kevin "Caddy"
Morrison led his team with 15 points and nine rebounds.
For the victors, Tammy Davis top scored for the
Tigers with 17 points and 17 boards his third double-double
of the season. Point Guard Anthony Christie made 16
points.
Wolfpack will hope to rebound today when they face the
winless Innercity Jnr. Avalanche at 6pm. On the other hand,
Railway Tigers will be inactive for a week.
