MONTEGO BAY, St James - Hopewell Vipers took over
sole leadership of the WBA Division One league on Saturday
after scoring a massive 82-32 win over Junior Avalanche at
Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Three players led by Dwight Reid's game high 22
points led Vipers to their fourth win and nine points, two
more than idle Central Flames, Sav Hawks and Granville
Wolfpack who got a walk-over win after Sav Hawks failed to
show.
On Sunday, Montego Bay Cricket Club Knights beat Trelawny
Tornadoes, 91-79, in the highest-scoring game of the season
so far as the team combined for 170 points.
Vipers were in control of their game against Avalanche as
they were up by 11 points 21-10 after the first quarter then
41-16 at half time. The Hanover club could have gone
scoreless in the second half after Avalanche scored just 16
points.
Gavin Forbes with 13 points and eight rebounds and
Graville Smith with 14 points also scored for Vipers
while Nico Campbell was the top scorer for Avalanche.
On Sunday, four players scored in double figures for Knights
who snapped a two games losing skid.
Gavin Brown led the way with 23 points, Omroy Kerr
scored 19 points, Jamoi Richards 17 and Lemar
Mitchell 12 for Knights who led 19-12 after the first
quarter, 40-30 at half time and 67-48 after the third
quarter.
Fitzroy Gordon was the top scorer for Tornadoes who
has lost all four game splayed so far, Orville Ennis
scored 14 points while Nathaniel Watson scored 12
points.
