Flames too
hot for Tigers, seals top spot
The Railway Tigers were hoping to continue the form they
discovered in their last three outings, as they took on the
current Mid-season champions, Central Flames at the Mobay
Cricket Club Multi-Purpose Court as Round Ten of the
Lucozade Sport MBC prolonged. The Flames headed
into this game confident with their 7-1 record the envy of
all division one teams.
In the first term Flames proved to be the aggressor burning
up the courts and the opposition 21-9. They also dominated
the boards, giving them control of the match.
Flames' hefty 12-point lead was cut short in the second term
as the team from Railway Lane regurgitated their first term
beat-down and out-scored their rivals 17-10 to trail by five
at the half-time buzzer.
It were the both teams which struggled in the third term, by
the end Central barely outscored Railway in the quarter
13-11, giving themselves a seven point advantage.
Sharp-shooting improved on the part of both teams but
advantage stayed in the eventual victors on their way to a
moderate 62-50 win and moving their record to 8 wins and 1
loss.
For the Flames, Craig Dorman top scored
with 23 points, 7 rebounds and eight steals, with
Cordell Gordon adding 14 points along with five
boards.
Detroy Jewery led the scoring for the
Tigers with 17 points, 6 boards and five steals, while
