Lucozade
flows for GC Foster athletes
Local distributor for Lucozade Sport, GlaxoSmithKline,
presented some of its products to G.C. Foster College of
Physical Education on Thursday.
The
presentation included products from the GlaxoSmithKline
consumer health-care line such as Panadol and Aquafresh. The
college was also presented with nutritious fluids.
Jacqueline Jackson, customer marketing executive at
GlaxoSmithKline, said her company, distributors of Lucozade
Sport, was happy to assist G.C. Foster College.
"What we do is to prepare monthly care packages for their
top athletes because we really want them to excel when they
are on the field," she said.
Important to help
Jackson said helping athletes in this way is important for
her company "because Lucozade Sport is an isotonic drink,
which replaces lost fluid. We want athletes to be in touch
with good nutrition and to understand the signals their body
is sending .... and to properly hydrate when they are
training".
Ventley Brown, athletics director of G.C. Foster
College, was pleased with GlaxoSmithKline's contribution.
"On behalf of G.C. Foster College, I am grateful for the
gesture by GlaxoSmithKline through their product Lucozade,"
Brown said.
"Nutritious fluids are very expensive and to have a
company like that giving us 50 cases ... is more than
welcome," he added.
GlaxoSmithKline, a long-time supporter of the school's sport
programme, will also give nutritious fluids to the male and
female volleyball and hockey teams, along with the female
basketballers and cricketers.
