  Cornwall College sweep Williams Knibb in KFC basketball
 


MONTEGO BAY, St James - Double defending champions Cornwall College repeated their sweep of William Knibb Memorial High School, winning both Under-19 and Under-16 ISSA/KFC Western Conference High school basketball games at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Wednesday as the second-round continued.

(Photo: Garfield Robinson) The 78-35 win in the Under-16 section was the sixth straight for the unbeaten Cornwall who are on 12 points, tied with Herbert Morrison who beat Muschett High 32-30 a day earlier.

In the Under-19 section Cornwall College won 75-43 to for their fifth win in seven starts to move to 12 points, two behind leaders Herbert Morrison who have won all seven of their games played so far.

The competition was due to continue yesterday with Spot Valley and Mannings School facing off in an Under-19 game at Spot Valley.

In the Under-16 game on Wednesday, Cornwall led by Robert McIntosh and Alex McFarlane who both scored 17 points, got off to a good start leading 11-8 after the first-quarter and 33-14 at the half and eased their way to their 43-point win.

Tevin Brown also got 10 points for Cornwall, while Shane Graham scored nine points while Alpha Wright led William Knibb with 12 points and 14 rebounds, Dexter Anderson scored 11 points while Livan Hamilton scored nine points.

Cornwall jumped out to a big lead in the Under-19 game and was up 25-9 after the first-quarter to set the pace. They were up by 18 points (42-24) at half-time and increased it to 24 points (56-32) after the third-quarter.

Peter Michael Reid had a triple double for Cornwall with 11 points, 31 rebounds and 12 blocked shots; Gavin Brown was the top scorer with 23 points; Christopher Smith scored 14 points and had seven rebounds while Oshane Cunning ham had 10 points.

Jamari Hines led William Knibb with 22 points, Orville Ennis scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds while Nasico Hodges scored eight points.
