Lady Knights ends Ballers unbeaten run, secure finals
berth The
Naldi Lady Knights stringed together their second
straight win and in the process handed the defending
champion - Unique Ballers their first loss of the season
on Saturday night at the Montego Bay Cricket Club
Multipurpose court.
Both teams were neck and neck for the first two
quarters, finally scoring 13 points respectively by
half-time. In the third, Knights built up a strong
14-point lead (29-15) over the Ballers who just seemed
to have burned out after a grueling season.
Withstanding the fierce Knights' attack, the Ballers
rally in the final quarter to out-muscle their opponent
17-8, but this was not enough to reclaim the lead and
Naldi held on to record an important 37-32 win to secure
their first Western Basketball Association Female
Basketball League Grand Final berth in their team's
third season.
On this night Shadian Hemmings was not at her
best for the Knights, notching only 9 points, 8 rebounds
and three assists, Tione Gowe and Alica
Dawkins contributed with 8 points.
Despite this heart-wrenching loss, the Ballers are set
to seek revenge against the Lady Knights when next they
meet next in next Saturday's league finale at the same
venue.
Ballers' Kashika Brown led her teams fight back
with 15 points and seven rebounds , while Tracy-Ann
Kelly made a low-key impact with 8 points, 5
rebounds, 3 assists and four steals.
