Liberty
Christian surprised in championship game
Lynchburg, VA (2-28-2008)
– Senior guard Christina Mitchell and Liberty
Christian
Academy were upset 40-37 by Carlisle High in the Blue
Ridge Championship game on
Monday night. Liberty Christian had barely beaten their
opponents twice in the
regular season. Mitchell scored all of her team’s eight
points in the third quarter,
including a three-point play to tie the game at 24, but
Carlisle proved to be too
tough down the stretch. Liberty Christian now waits to
find out its seeding for the
upcoming Virginia State Tournament playoffs.
Memphis too good for
Tulsa
Memphis, TN (2-28-2008) – Center Jerome Jordan
finished with eight points, five
rebounds, and three blocked shots, but Tulsa University
was no match for No. 2

Conference USA encounter.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Tulsa
who dropped to 15-11 overall
and 6-7 in conference play. Memphis was the last
unbeaten team standing in Division
I until they were ambushed at home last weekend by No. 2
Tennessee University.
