Decatur Christian wins National basketball title

 

Decatur, IL (3-19-2008) – Senior forward, Demeatrio Wade, formerly of Excelsior High School, ended his high school career with a bang when he led Decatur Christian School to the National Association of Christian Athletes National Championships in Dayton, Tennessee, over the weekend. The team returned home to Decatur on Monday and was met by a large and jubilant group of fans who lined the parade route to congratulate their heroes. Decatur Christian won the eight team tournament to end its season 29-3. Wade was voted the “Most Valuable Player” of the tournament after finishing with 29 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and six block shots in the deciding game. 


 

Tulsa continues winning ways with victory over Miami-Ohio
 

Tulsa, OK (3-20-2008) – Center Jerome Jordan scored six points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds as the University of Tulsa defeated the University of Miami-Ohio 61-45 last night in the first round of the inaugural College Basketball Invitational Tournament. Tulsa, who have won now 11 of its last 14 games, including a run to the championship game of the Conference USA tournament, advances to play the University of Utah next Monday. The victory helped Tulsa improve to 21-13 on the season.




 


 

Southeastern Illinois win opener of NJCAA National Tournament
 

Hutchinson, KS (3-20-2008) – Forward Andree Wilson, playing one of his biggest games since his arrival at Southeastern Illinois College (SIC), scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead SIC to a close 63-57 triumph over Paris Junior College in the opening round of the NJCAA Men's National Tournament on Tuesday night. SIC will now face Salt Lake Community College in the quarterfinals today. Wilson, a 6’ 4” sophomore forward, made the biggest play of the game when he grabbed a crucial offensive rebound and scored on the put-back and was fouled. He calmly sank the free throw to give SIC a five-point lead with 23 seconds remaining.
