named to
All-Tournament Team
Jerome Jordan finished the tournament
averaging 17.5 points, 12.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks,
while shooting 59-percent from the field and 73-percent
from the free throw line and was selected to the
Conference USA all-tournament team. Unfortunately for
Tulsa , they needed to win the championship to get an
automatic bid to the NCAA field of 64, but were rewarded
with an invitation to the Inaugural College Basketball
Invitational, a 16-team post-season tournament, and will
host Miami University of Ohio on Wednesday.

’s golden run derailed by
Memphis
Memphis
, TN (3-17-2008) – The University of Tulsa’s
golden run went all the way to the championship game of
the Conference USA Tournament but then they ran into the
University of Memphis , the #2 team in the country.
Memphis , showing their mettle, outclassed their
opponents 77-51. Tulsa had beaten East Carolina
University then shocked University of Alabama-Birmingham
(UAB) in overtime, before defeating University of
Texas-El Paso (UTEP), again in overtime, to advance to
the championship game. Sophomore center, Jerome
Jordan, who had been averaging 20.5 points in the
tournament, continued his rapid rise to stardom as he
added 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
In the championship game, Jordan went 7-of-11 from the
field on his way to 17 points, and also added nine
rebounds and four blocked shots.
Florida Southern shocked in Regional opener
Lakeland
, FL (3-17-2008) – Florida Southern College
hosted the opening round of the NCAA Division II South
Region Tournament and were expected to run all over
Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday night, but that
did not happen. Instead, it was Ouachita Baptist that
shocked the home and top seeded team 74-69. Florida
Southern went scoreless for the first 5:28 falling
behind 9 -0 but recovered to lead 30-29 at halftime.
They opened the second half with a 7-2 spurt, but
Ouachita Baptist took the lead for good soon after and
came away victorious. Senior forward, Andrei Grant,
formerly of Calabar High and Urban Knights, ended his
basketball career at Florida Southern with eight
rebounds, as Florida Southern ended the season with a
24-9 record.
Cedarville ousted by MidAmerica Nazarene

, MO (3-17-2008) – Cedarville University
basketball season came to an end on Saturday night when
they were ousted from the 17th Annual NAIA Division II
National Tournament by defending champions and #2 seed
MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) 79-73. After
leading 38-37 at halftime, Cedarville were outplayed in
the second half and found themselves down by eight
points with four minutes left. They cut the deficit to
two points with 10 seconds to go but ran out of time as
MNU sank 11-of-15 free throws down the stretch to seal
the victory. Forward Ricardo Alliman, formerly of
Calabar High, capped a double-double of 15 points and a
game-high 14 rebounds, while Christopher Walker,
formerly of Tivoli High and Harbour View Lakers, added
15 points.
