Jamaican trio lead Cedarville over Urbana

- The Jamaican trio of Christopher Walker,
Daniel Rose, and Ricardo Alliman were at it
again last night as they combined for 30 points, 33
rebounds, and six blocked shots to pace NAIA Division II
No. 16 Cedarville University to an easy 74-48 victory
over Urbana University in an American Mideast Conference
(AMC) South Division game last night. After an
error-filled first half in which they turned over the
ball 13 times, Cedarville rallied from a 31-27 halftime
deficit and outscored Urbana 47-17 in the second half to
improve to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the AMC. Alliman
(13 points and 13 rebounds) and Walker (10 points
and 12 rebounds) both finished with double-doubles.
FSC Hold Off St. Leo

St.
Leo, FL (1-17-2008)
- Florida Southern College scored its sixth straight
victory last night when they held off St. Leo College
89-80 in a Sunshine State Conference encounter. Senior
forward Andrei Grant of Jamaica scored 10 points,
all in the second half, as FSC won its fourth
consecutive conference game to improve to 4-1 in the SSC
and 13-4 overall.
FSC has
been on a blistering three-point shooting spree all
season and nailed 13 shots from behind the arc last
night to set a new school record for three-pointers with
182 so far and at least 13 games still to be played.
They are currently sixth in the country in 3-point field
goals per game and second in 3-point shooting
percentage.
Mitchell and Lynchburg too much for Virginia Episcopal

Lynchburg, VA (1-16-2008)
- Christina Mitchell, former member of the
Jamaica Under-19 National female team and Metrobells in
the Jamaica Basketball Association (JABA) DHL female
league, scored 13 points and helped spark Liberty
Christian Academy to a 57-41 victory over Virginia
Episcopal School. This performance followed her
career-high 26-point outburst against Amelia Academy and
her four points, four rebounds, and eight assist
performance against Greenbriar Christian last week which
earned her the Athlete of the Week award.
Lynchburg is presently 11-1 on the season
