Cedarville shoots down Mount Vernon Nazarene Cedarville,
OH (02-15-2010): Senior forward Ricardo
Alliman continued his rebounding assault last night when
he nabbed 16 more rebounds to push his season total to
1, 022 while adding 11 points and five blocks in
Cedarville University's 92-79 win over Mount Vernon
Nazarene University.
The story of the game, however, was the long range
shooting of both teams, as they combined for 24
three-pointers. Cedarville connected on 9-of-17 attempts
in the first half to take a 52-38 halftime lead then
buried 5-of-9 in the second half to help keep Mount
Vernon Nazarene at bay.
The victory was the ninth in a row in the American
Mideast Conference for the winners who are now 11-2 in
the AMC and 19-8 overall.
Tulsa falls at home to
Memphis Tulsa,
OK (02-15-2010): University of Memphis, the last
team to beat University of Tulsa at home over a year
ago, repeated the feat again last night as they snapped
Tulsa's 23-game home winning streak with a 93-86 victory
in a Conference USA clash.
Center Jerome Jordan went 6-of-12 from the field
and 7-of-9 from the free throw line for 19 points as
Tulsa fell to 8-2 in conference play and 19-5 overall.
Jordan also added six rebounds and five blocked shots.
The game was dubbed "HOOPS FOR HAITI" night and first
5,000 fans received a White Tulsa Basketball T-shirt
while cash donations were collected to benefit the Haiti
Relief Fund.
Rutgers shocks No. 8
Georgetown 71-68 Piscataway,
NJ (02-15-2010):
Rutgers University somehow managed orchestrate a
71-68 upset victory over No. 8 Georgetown University on
Sunday afternoon in a Big East contest. Georgetown was
the second-highest-ranked opponent ever defeated by
Rutgers after a 74-64 win over then No. 6-ranked West
Virginia in February 1982.
National player Mike Coburn provided effective
point guard play finishing the game with three points
and three assists, and no turnovers. Rutgers, on the
other hand, established an 18-8 advantage in
points-off-turnovers as they won for the fourth time in
five games.
