Cedarville escapes upset bid by Taylor

Cedarville, OH (01-11-2010): Captain Ricardo Alliman proved to be more than a handful for the Urbana University defense on Saturday night as the 6' 7" center/forward scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help NAIA Division II No. 8 Cedarville University return to winning ways with a convincing 97-75 non-conference victory.

After dropping both games in the recent Northwood Invitational Tournament, the Yellow Jackets rebounded behind Alliman who sank 9-of-18 shots from the field and 3-of-3 from the line in 28 minutes of play. Cedarville shot 56 percent from the field and connected on 9-of-16 three-pointers in one of its better shooting performances this season. Another Jamaican, forward Christopher Walker, chipped-in with 11 points as Cedarville improved to 9-5.


KWC repels Drury's late charge then takes out Missouri S&T

Rolla, MO (01-11-2010): Thirteenth-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) dominated No. 18 Drury University throughout, taking a 30-point lead with 10 minutes to play on its way to a 79-67 win in a Great Lakes Valley Conference encounter last Friday. Forward Andree Wilson just missed posting a double-double as he ended with 11 points and nine rebounds for KWC who won its 15th straight game to improve to 15-1 overall.

Drury came with a late charge near the end but the deficit proved too much to overcome as KWC moved to 4-0 in conference play. Then last night KWC defeated Missouri S&T University 71-60 after trailing 33-29 at halftime in a game that saw the lead changing hands numerous times. Wilson finished with 11 points as KWC remains unbeaten in the GLVC at 5-0.

Louisville remains unbeaten in Big East with victory over St. Johns

Louisville, KY (01-11-2010): University of Louisville got nine points and 11 rebounds from sophomore forward Samardo Samuels as the Cardinals defeated St. John's University 75-68 on Saturday afternoon to run their record in the Big East Conference to 3-0 and 12-4 overall.

Louisville battled back from a 32-28 halftime deficit after shooting only 33 percent in the first half, thanks to a 12-1 run midway through the second half. St. John's mounted a late rally but could get no closer than seven points. The winners face a big test tonight when they host Villanova University at 7:00 p.m. EST, in a game to be broadcasted live nationally on ESPN.





Valpo drops heartbreaker at Wright State

Dayton, OH (01-11-2010): Despite a season-best 12 points from guard Michael Rogers, Valparaiso University lost a heartbreaker to Wright State University 59-57 last night in Horizon League action. Valpo led 57-48 with 7:09 to play but Wright State scored the final 11 points to close out the game, including the winning basket with just 4.7 seconds left to shock the visitors.

Rogers connected on 4-of-6 attempts from behind the arc as Valpo dropped to 1-4 in the conference and 6-11 overall on the season. They return to the court on Thursday to host Youngstown State at 7:05 p.m. EST.

Tulsa shoots its way past Houstonn

(By Michael Clevenger, The Courier-Journal) March 20, 2009Tulsa, OK (01-11-2010): Center Jerome Jordan scored 19 points and swatted away four shots as University of Tulsa won its first road game of the season defeating University of Houston 86-80 last night. Tulsa 12-3 overall and 2-0 in Conference USA, shot a blistering 67.5 percent from the field, connecting on 27-of-40 shots while holding Houston 37.5 percent as the Cougars made only 27 of its 72 shots.

Tulsa won despite committing 20 turnovers, but limited the nation's leading scorer, Aubrey Coleman, to 25 points, most of which came from the free throw line where he went 14-of-15. The Hurricanes will remain on the road to face Southern Methodist University (SMU) on Wednesday night in Dallas, Texas.
