Avalanche, Jaguars look to secure NBL Promotion

Following a 71-56 victory over the Granville Jaguars in the all-island qualifying playoffs at the Montego Bay Cricket Club last Sunday, Selassie Gardens secured their spot in next season's National Basketball League (NBL).

Leroy "Slenko" Lawrence scored game and team-high 18 points and Huwayne "Fat-Man" Blake added 12 for Jaguars. Craig Bernard also made double figures with 10.

The South St Andrew-based team remained the only undefeated team with four wins. Arthur Thompson spearhead his team to victory with 17 points, he received strong support from Duran Dean with 15 points, while Kemar Cohen chipped in with 13.

Morant Bay All-Stars failed to show for their encounter against Innercity Avalanche.

St. James based Jaguars and Innercity Avalanche remain winless in the playoffs thus far, both along with Kingston-based Brave Chiefs are currently battling for the last remaining promotion spot.

NBL playoffs action continues this Saturday at the same venue as Avalanche and Jaguars face-off at 6pm. Following that on Sunday, Avalanche will entertain Braves Chiefs at 4pm.
